Show, Don’t tell

An increasing puddle formed at the base of where the boy stood. Whimpering sounds echoed through his lips, escaping into the sorrowful air. Choking on his own tears. He swallowed his agony, with hateful blurry eyes. His chest rose and fell, in a unrhythmic pace. His fists relaxed with hopelessness, releasing the accumulation of misery that’s built up inside his soul. His body trembled as he surrendered to the darkness.

Whimpering in longing, begging to adventure out into the wild world, the dog was desperate to go for a walk. Collecting the leash tightly in its jaw. The dog trotted hopefully over to the revoltingly smelling master. Brushing its nose against his leg, lovingly naging for the opportunity to stretch his legs.

Stabbing into your heart. Stealing the warmth left inside your soul. Suffocating the hope of comfort. The temperature fell. Ice formed around the visible breath. Reflecting the heat of the sun.
